Applying and Taking the Exam

Application steps

Create an account on the IAAP site and submit the exam application. (IAAP membership discounts the fee.)
WAS uses a two-step application — a screening application first assesses eligibility (roughly 3–5 years of hands-on technical experience recommended).
Once approved, schedule with Pearson VUE — online-proctored from home or at a test center worldwide.
Take the exam within your scheduled exam window. Results typically arrive within a few weeks.

Standard $315 · IAAP member $255 · EDE $100

A discounted retake is available once within one year of the first attempt; payments are non-refundable.

Maintaining the credential

Certifications are valid for three years; renewal requires 45 CAECs (Continuing Accessibility Education Credits) earned through courses, presentations, publications, mentoring, or IAAP volunteering.

Exam-day tips

For remote proctoring, run the system check (webcam, network) in advance and prepare a quiet private room with valid ID.
Budget time per question — practice pacing with this site's full-scale mock exams (CPACC 100Q/120min, WAS 75Q/90min).
Flag uncertain questions and return after a full pass — there is no penalty for wrong answers.
